Colour Match Accuracy

The most difficult part of matching these old paint colours was to find good original un-faded sections to copy from.

The first three pictures are examples (these are thumbnails - click on the picture for a full size shot) of just how much the sun changes the colours.

The first two show minor changes but the third is an extreme example of just how much the sun can change a colour.

The fourth picture is from a customer. It's a 1957 Lark, they were painted with a light grey which was non-metallic.

He only painted the gearcase and sent me this picture and said, "you're paint doesn't match very well". Seriously, I'm not making this up.

Look at the picture and see how badly faded the original paint is. Look at the corrosion around the bolts and nuts.

I get this on a regular basis. He sent me this picture in 2011. That made the motor 54 years old at the time.
